Right Click Radio Playlist 28th October: CMJ special

Aoife Mc taking a break from recording the links for the show in The Chelsea Hotel

I spent the last week in New York City at the CMJ Music Marathon Festival, venue hopping around Manhattan and Brooklyn as a deliriously happy musical tourist.  So much fun.

CMJ is a four day industry-focused music festival which took place in various venues around NYC from Tuesday the 20th of October right through til Saturday the 24th of October.

As well as watching bands at the millions of blog parties that were taking place over the four day festival, I caught the Irish showcase, put on by Music From Ireland. The bands representing were The Minutes, The Star Department, We Should Be Dead, Dark Room Notes, Valerie Francis, Super Extra Bonus Party, and Subplots.  The showcase was held in The Bowery Poetry Club on the Thursday of CMJ and  I managed to squeeze in interviews with Super Extra Bonus Party and Subplots.

This show was a CMJ special, and featured some of the tops bands I caught while at the festival, as well as some that I didn’t manage to catch but other NY based blogs did and consequently bigged them up on their blogs.

I pre-recorded the show in The Chelsea Hotel where I was staying, hence the photo above.  What a great place.

Right Click Radio Playlist October 14th

The Temper Trap

Today was the first day of broadcasting for Right Click Radio on RTE’s 2XM.

I’m used to doing live radio, as my old show The Indie Hour on DCFM was always broadcast live.  And so, it was a new experience for me being able to actually listen to my own show on the radio (I pre-recorded Right Click Radio a few nights ago in the safety of my own home with not a rowdy Irish band in sight).  It wasn’t as weird of an out-of-body experience as I was expecting.  In fact, it felt rather nice.

Thanks for all the shout-outs on twitter – lovely to have such instant feedback!

Right Click Radio will be going out on Wednesdays at 1700 with repeats on Fridays at 1200.  Catch it and all the other programmes available on RTE’s Digital Radio on the RTE website, on your DAB radio, or on UPC Chorus Channel 944.

Below is the playlist for the show and the links to the blogs wherein I found all the tracks.  Check them out – loads of good stuff there.

Right Click Radio on 2XM

October 13, 2009 · Leave a Comment

right click radio lady

Right Click Radio on RTE’s 2xm is a new programme that will be broadcasting every Wednesday at 1700, with a repeat on Fridays at 1200.

The show is hosted by myself, Aoife Mc, and every week I’ll be bringing you my favourite hand-picked tracks that have been bigged up on the web.  The idea will to bring the radio audience just one step closer to the blogosphere and to point you in the direction of some of my favourite blogs and bloggers worldwide.

Expect all types of genres of music on this show.  My only criteria for the music I listen to is that it’s good. I’m looking for music that makes me happy: music that makes me forget I’m living through an economic recession, that I’m getting increasingly more wrinkley by the day, and that I’ll probably never learn to walk in heels.

On this blog, I will be posting a weekly playlist with links to the blogs wherein I found each track.

Catch Right Click Radio and all the other programmes available on RTE’s Digital Radio on the RTE website, on your DAB radio, or on UPC Chorus Channel 944.
